I almost didn't buy this because of the other reviews here, but I'm glad I did. It doesn't stink, it has a nice scent to it. Somewhat minty, somewhat licorice/anise -y. A few drops diluted in warm water, used in an oil warmer, it's very nice. Can't wait to see what it smells like with the frankincense oil mixed in as well.

Now foods has been a reliable source of essential oils for my personal use these past 8 years. We often diffuse a blend of Frankincense and Myrrh throughout our home for a sense of well-being and grounding. The scents and the properties work synergistically so I'm reviewing both of them together in this review.

Frankincense is often used in both incense and perfumes. Few realize Frankincense is also known as Boswellia and in that form has been ingested for literally thousands of years as a supplement (do NOT ingest essential oils without the direction of a qualified practitioner!) "Frank" as the oil is known is credited with many healing properties. Be sure to do your research.

Myrrh has been notably used as a perfume, incense and medicine, some claim it can be ingested in wine though I generally never ingest essential oils because of their potency. Myrrh is also known for all things circulatory and involving the uterus, hence it's commonly used with Frankincense (and I like to have both infusing when I'm taking salvia miltiorrhiza aka red sage or dan shen.)

Reviewer's tip of the day: The three wise men were bearing gifts of Frankincense, Myrrh and Gold. The Magi's blend is known to be one of the most healing of all essential oil blends - a blend of Frankincense, Myrrh and Helichrysum also commonly referred to as "gold" in ancient days. Note: Some references cite "gold" as Balsam Fir which is native to North America hence it would not have been included in the ancient Magi's formula.

Whether it is a batch error or a blatant rip off, there is no myrrh in this particular bottle of "blended" oil. It is not "mild," it is absent, but as the disclaimer states, there are expected variables. I just didn't think "no myrrh" was one of of them.

This product came in decent shipping time right on the day they said it would be there, but I was disappointed in the oil itself. Let me first take blame because I was looking for 100% Myrrh EO, and I flat out misread it since it very clearly says it's a 20% solution. That being said, I cannot smell any scent at all to the oil. I realize it is primarily Grapeseed oil as the carrier oil, but I am used to even solutions having still a nice scent of the Essential oil involved. I will probably use this one to scent the house with and purchase another 100% solution. I think if I could smell a scent, I would be more pleased with this product even though it was not exactly what I was intending to select.

There is a reason why myrrh was one of the three gifts given to the baby Jesus. It is a powerful oil with a musty scent to it. It is also an expensive oil due to the way it is produced. I mostly use myrrh essential oil in a headache blend that includes a couple other oils. This is very affordable because it is diluted. The verbiage confused me at first. It is 100% pure myrrh but it's diluted to 20%. This means they took pure oil and mixed one part oil in with four parts carrier oil. The oil itself is still pure though. Being pre-diluted in now way affects the quality of the oil or its properties. Unless you are doing something that calls for a neat (undiluted) application, it is usually recommended that you dilute your oils 20-80% depending on the oil. Dilution of oils does not affect the quality. That's one of the glories of essential oils. 20 oil/80 carrier oil still works and has powerful benefits the same as you would if you had 100% EO. For safety reasons always dilute your EOs before applying. This bottle simply took the math out and did the diluting for you. I am a big fan of now essential oils. This is my mid grade brand for essential oils. While there are some things that I prefer the expensive high-quality oils that you have to order from a distributor, most of my EOs are from Now Foods.

I bought this for a mouth rinse since Myrrh is great for tooth and gum health. I do with they offered it without other oil mixed in. That's the only reason I only gave it 4 stars.

I buy lots of NOW products and have never been disappointed.

And now Essential Oils are pure and came highly recommended to me by an expert. (I say that because so many people who sell oils as part of a multi level marketing company will tell you it's a substandard product.)

I started using this product on my dog's bleeding gums. I first clean his teeth and gums with a liquid recommended by my Vet that has C.E.T. then I apply the Myrrh with a cotton ball on the gums. This seems to reduce the swelling. I alternate this with Candeluna gel . My dog only weighs 2 1/2 pounds and I don't want to take the risk of putting him under to get his gums and teeth scraped.
